LACE WORLD TOUR PROJECT 2022-2023

This is the first project in our world tour, beginning with a lace that was made right here in the U.S.

We begin with Ipswich Lace!

This lace is the only known American hand-made lace to be commercially produced. In the 18th century a community of lace-making arose inn this coastal Massachusetts town, north of Boston,

This is the original pattern from Karen Thompson’s book: The Lace Samples from Ipswich, Massachusetts 1789-1790.

Sylvia Fellows has created a narrower version for the August 2022 meeting project:

In addition to the project, we shared some treats that are popular in Massachusetts: Cape Cod Kettle Chips, Fluffernutter Bars and “virgin” Cape Codder (without the vodka) drinks.
